Multi-model architecture emerging as competitive moat: Replit uses Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, and open-source models in combination for code generation, review, design, and search

Mustafa Suleyman· Microsoft AI· AI· 2026-07-06· about Replit
At Replit, we write, you know, we generate a lot of the code with Claude, but we do code review with OpenAI. We generate the designs with Gemini. We use open-source model for code search. And so, the this concept of more like of an agent lab, a lab that knows how to create agent from a you know different groupings of different models.

Why it matters

Companies are actively building 'society of models' architectures that orchestrate multiple foundation models for different tasks rather than relying on a single provider. This reduces lock-in risk and allows task-specific model optimization.

Investment implication

Model orchestration and agent framework companies (like LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar middleware) could become critical infrastructure. Additionally, companies that excel at multi-model integration may gain competitive advantage over single-model-dependent competitors.
