Gap between simulation and real-world humanoid deployment is 10-100x harder; gap between demo and production deployment at least 10-100x

“simulations are doomed to succeed because a lot of times you can show something really cool in simulation but translating that to the real machine or to the real world is unlikely or impossible. And the gap between those two is at least an order of magnitude at minimum, maybe an order of a hundred. And I think very similarly there's this gap between doing a demo of something and showing something cool on video once and actually deploying it with a customer in a way that is useful and reliable and cost down and all of that. At least ten times if not a hundred times harder to do it.”
