Andrew Kang: US government should directly invest billions in robotics companies and develop manufacturing trade education to compete with subsidized Chinese efforts
Andrew Kang· Mechanism Capital· Robotics· 2026-06-02· about US robotics industry (general)
“What do you think the US government can do to encourage more success in the human and robot space? I think they should just be directly investing in some of these robotics companies... There's a lot of ways to do it. You can invest in the companies themselves like the government has done with Intel. You can give them loans at very favorable terms. You can establish more prevalent education programs for people to get involved in robot related trade or manufacturing related trade.”
Why it matters
Current US policy lags Chinese government support for robotics. Without direct government investment in US humanoid companies, development timelines will extend. Government grants and loans will become critical to competitiveness.
Investment implication
Robotics companies will benefit from government grants, favorable loans, and manufacturing subsidies similar to Intel CHIPS Act. Track legislative efforts to fund robotics research and manufacturing buildout.
