Figure AI's 20-day live-stream demo marks inflection point; perception shift from skepticism to mainstream investor interest.

Andrew Kang· Mechanism Capital· Robotics· 2025-01-27· about Figure AI
It felt like the chatbt moment for robotics where it was like whoa, this thing is real... I think it was like one of those moments where there's like a shift in like the global consciousness of like you know what we believe you know technology can do... And uh I think like that's a really great way for robotic companies to devel to kind of like demonstrate their capabilities is to do stuff on on live stream. So I think we're going to see more of that in in the future as well.

Why it matters

Figure AI's public demonstration has reversed Silicon Valley skepticism and triggered a repricing of robotics TAM in investor mindset. This signals accelerating capital inflow into the sector and potential near-term Series funding rounds and strategic partnerships at higher valuations.

Investment implication

Professional investors previously dismissive of robotics are now actively seeking robotics exposure. This creates a near-term re-rating effect for early-stage robotics companies and may accelerate corporate strategic investments (Google, Microsoft, Meta) in robotics partnerships and M&A. Robo Strategy and similar venture vehicles are positioned to capture this capital reallocation.
