ISS technical challenges (leak issues) and geopolitical constraints (Russia partnership) cited as rationale for accelerating commercial replacement; creates urgency for CLD award

The ISS has a leak issue, the ISS is a partnership with Russia, which geopolitically is challenging. And so our view is that the right path is to continue down the commercial route to basically select as soon as possible two companies.

Why it matters

ISS technical degradation and geopolitical risk create a hard deadline for commercial station deployment. Any further ISS structural failure would accelerate the need for immediate commercial LEO alternatives.

Investment implication

Accelerated timeline favors companies with near-complete designs and funding in place (VAST, Axiom Space, Orbital Reef). Suppliers of rapid-deployment ISS resupply/crew transfer systems may see demand spike if ISS reliability declines further.
