Rivian launching Mind Robotics, funded at >$1B, deploying industrial manufacturing robots into Rivian plants by early 2027

RJ Scaringe· Rivian· Robotics· 2026-07-22· about Mind Robotics
I started a robotics company last year. Name of the company is Mind Robotics. I'm enormously excited for this, and it's focus is developing robots that can do human-like tasks in manufacturing. So, it's very focused on industrial settings. We've raised a little over a billion dollars in capital for this. We put together just an incredible team. And we're going to be deploying the first robots from Mind uh into Rivian in the early part of 2027.

Why it matters

Rivian is vertically integrating into robotics with significant capital commitment ($1B+) to automate manufacturing. This signals confidence in automation-driven manufacturing cost reduction and creates internal demand for advanced industrial robots.

Investment implication

Mind Robotics will become a major customer of advanced robot components, sensors, vision systems, and control electronics. This also suggests Rivian is attempting to reduce labor and assembly costs as it scales R2 production, which could have implications for manufacturing equipment suppliers and labor-intensive EV assembly supply chains.
